The happiest baby on the block

Samantha's smiling face is the number one reason I wake up in the morning. I turn off her sound machine (that's been playing rain noises all night) and she begins to stir as I walk over to her bassinet. I turn on the light and tell her good morning which brings a huge smile to her face as she stretches her arms up. I love it. I then scoop her in my arms (her legs pull up in the fetal position as she snuggles against me) and bring her downstairs to be changed, dressed and fed. Most babies dread being changed but Samantha is as happy as can be. Maybe it has to do with this little butterfly that is hovering over her changing table. She loves this butterfly, she used to just smile when she saw it but now she's begun to try and talk to it. She has been doing a lot of "talking" the last couple of days and I love hearing her voice as she works on all her new sounds.

Motherhood

Each day...
brings a new meaning to motherhood. No words can describe the complete euphoric feeling. I always dreamed of being a mommy and sharing my unconditional love, but until it became my reality there's no comparisian. My heart is filled and I am eternally blessed. In my eyes, here is my defination of motherhood:

-One who anticipates each morning because I want nothing more than to hold my baby in my arms

-One who is grateful to be home with my baby each and every day to watch her grow and learn

-One who could stare at that little round face, rosy cheeks, and little button nose all day long

-One who's heart aches at the sound of her cry, but at the same time thinks it's the most beautiful sound ever

-One who loves that she recognizes my voice, strains her neck to always keep me in sight, and gives the biggest gummy smile

-One who falls in love all over again every time her husband holds their sweet bundle close

-One who finds total comfort in knowing God chose me to love, nurture, and care for His greatest gift

Every day is a new beginning and with each day I'm reminded that there is no one I'd rather be in my life than Toby's wife and Baby Samantha's Mommy.

I have hands

Well our little sweetie pie is definitely doing a big things. I was so proud to see her grab at her toys on her activity mat and almost threw a party when she pulled the little pineapple guys leg. She also quickly learned that if she kicks hard enough at the mirror by her feet it plays music What coordination! Her fine motor skills are improving more and more everyday. She no longer is content to just sit and stare - she's a busy little girl. I was just telling Toby that Samantha needs to have TOYS galore because now she can interact and play. We've already started shopping! I was looking back at some pictures of Samantha when she was just born and can't believe how much she's grown in such a short time! I love her more each day and am proud of all her accomplishments. The simplest things make me beam with pride! This week Samantha is discovering her hands. She likes to look at them and explore them. She'll watch as she opens and closes them and she quickly learned she can use them. She has also gained some head control as her neck muscles have strengthen- which makes tummy time fun time.
Who's that beautiful baby? Oh, it's me!

Now that I can control my head tummy-time isn't so bad
