Playdate

Samantha and I have gone to a few mommy and me play groups. It's been a great experience meeting new moms and discussing motherhood. I also love to see the babies at different ages and stages. I now understand why parents always talk about their babies in weeks for the first couple of years, there is so much growth and development that happens each and every week. Samantha is the youngest in the group so far which I kinda like since I can get lots of advice from the moms who've just experienced it. Samantha loves to see all the different babies and mommies. She just loves being around people especially when they're paying attention to her.

So cute just looking around trying to grab that toy.

"Trying to keep up with the other babies, I rolled onto my side for the first time. Mommy was so excited and proud of me."
Looking up at mommy take another picture."Let's play mommy!"

All bundled up to go run errands with mommy.

I love my being in my cozy car seat but do I really need the hood on in the car?
(she's just too cute for words)

12 weeks old

I can't believe my precious little baby will soon be three months old. Just this month I was telling Toby that March 3rd marks her third month and possibly lots of firsts. The first night in her crib, the first time sitting in her bebepod chair, and the first time we take a family hike with daddy carrying her in the baby bjorn. But as I think about how soon March 3rd is approaching I'm hesitant to let my little girl go into her own room and crib. She's always been a good sleeper and started her life sleeping in between the two of us in her co-sleeper. I loved having her in bed with us, waking and seeing her so peaceful, snugly, and safe. Then at 2 months we moved her into her bassinet just beside the bed and she slept even more soundly (as did we) since she wasn't disturbed by our every toss and turn; we too were less interrupted by the grunts and groans she like to make as she sleeps. But that's what I love. I love hearing her breathing heavily as she dozes off to sleep. I love to hear the sounds of her yawns and sighs as she wakes. I want to hold onto every moment I experience with her and yet I love each new moment that comes as time goes by.

So Sweet

What Samantha can do
  • She can roll over onto her side and teeters a little until she rolls back onto her back. (I know she'll get all the way over very soon)
  • She grasps toys and her blanket
  • She likes to take out her Chupa (pacifier) she holds it so tightly her knuckles turn white. Then she gets mad she doesn't have it in her mouth anymore so she begins flailing her arms until the chupa goes flying through the air.
  • She likes to be heard and will let out a shout.
  • She loves to smile
  • She wakes up happy
  • She'll smile at you if you smile at her
  • She can stick out her tongue
  • She can sit up with assistance.
  • She loves when her daddy comes home and gets the biggest smile when she sees him and hears his voice.

2 month well check

Samantha had her two month well baby check last week.  She weighed in at 10lbs 11oz.  Everything went great until they came in to give her the shots.  I had Toby go with me because I knew I'd be crying just as much as Samantha, I hate to see or hear her cry.  So they gave the first shot and she did great but when they gave her the second one she screamed louder than I'd ever heard her before.  Of course she calmed down and seemed to have no memory of it within a few minutes but I on the other hand felt terrible all day, I just kept watching her to make sure that there weren't any side effects.  The only thing I noticed different was how tired she was. It took about three days until she was alert and back to herself.

Valentine's Day

Just another day to share our love with our little girl and it was an excuse to buy her a new outfit and toy! We spent the day with our family, appreciating the love we have and making sure Samantha got plenty of hugs and kisses!

Smiles

Our beautiful little Samantha is becoming quite the social butterfly. She loves it when Toby and I talk to her, sing to her, and play with her. She just gets the biggest grin on her face and will try and talk back to us by cooing or doing one of her loud shout outs. She loves playing on her activity mat so she can hit her toys and kick her legs. It's so funny to see her get her little legs going. She sometimes will only kick one leg up and down so it looks like she's starting a motorcycle, Toby and I just laugh when she does this which makes her smile and giggle too.
We went Friday to get pictures taken. Samantha did so well until one of the ladies kept making a loud high pitch squealing noise to try and make her smile, it was worse than some of the American Idol rejects, well Samantha wasn't having anything to do with this lady thank goodness we got most of the pictures done before she came into the room. Samantha is very content and easy going therefore she doesn't like it when her chi gets disturbed! A couple mornings ago I saw that Samantha was captivated by the TV so I turned on Sesame Street and Ernie was on, she just couldn't contain her smile while she watched this curious creature but when Elmo came on she became a little frightened (he's just to high energy for our chill baby!). I don't plan on continuing to let Samantha watch TV especially this early I just thought it was cute how much more aware she is of her surroundings.

This passed week Samantha has slept through the night. I almost don't want to even talk about it for fear that as soon as I did she'd be awake all night. Toby and I both couldn't believe it the first night it happened we both didn't expect we'd be getting a full night sleep anytime soon. She goes to sleep around 8, sleeps until 5, then I feed her and she goes back to sleep until 8am. Now that Little miss Samantha is sleeping through the night we may soon be moving her to her crib.
