Rollie Pollie

First Official Nap in Her Crib.

(we no longer use the sleep positioner since
she brings her legs all the way up and over it!)

Yea, Samantha is sleeping in her crib. Let's just say it was much harder on me than her. She transitioned well and slept fine the first couple nights. But the last few days she has been moving like crazy. She has mastered rolling onto her stomach but has trouble rolling back onto her back. This is where the problem lies. Samantha will toss and turn throughout the night making it onto her stomach and waking herself up to get back onto her back. With all her moving we removed everything from her crib and now use a Sleep Sack instead of a blanket. Toby and I haven't had much sleep we keep looking over at the video monitor to make sure she hasn't rolled over on her stomach. The morning after our first restless night I couldn't find Sparky to let him out and when I went to check on Samantha this is what I saw.

Sparky had slept under baby girls crib to make sure she was OK. Aww, he has been so good with her and seems to be taking on his big brother role!

Playtime has become more challenging as well if I lay Samantha down on her activity mat she rolls right over to her tummy, which she used to enjoy, but now she's trying so hard to move and gets frustrated she isn't going anywhere yet. She loves to be sitting up or standing with support. She has grown and changed so much and we are starting to see some of her sweat personality appear. She is such a happy little girl, her laughs melts my heart. She has also begun to babble to us more and seems to recognize certain words: If you say Sparky, Bottle, Momma or Dadda she seems to know exactly what your talking about.

We took Samantha to the Sacramento Zoo last weekend with Grandpa Steve and Marcia. It was such a beautiful day and Samantha did so well. She loves to be outside and enjoyed the fresh air. The zoo was much smaller than we thought it would be which worked out so we were able to see everything. Samantha was more interested in all the kids than the animals! She would smile at them and occasionally try to grab an unsuspecting child standing next to us.

We also went hiking and it was the first time Daddy carried Samantha in the baby bjorn. She loved it.

Samantha and Sparky Show

Samantha has a new love - Sparky! Whenever she sees him she squeals with delight (which by the way is the best sound ever). It's funny, I'm always saying momma and dadda to Samantha hoping she will soon mimic me or see me and say it which has yet to happen. But if I yell S-P-A-R-K-Y she gets wide eyed and looks around for him. Maybe I should start having Toby yell M-O-M-M-Y so that I can come running in the room!

Mother's Day

It was amazing celebrating Mother's Day as a mommy. Toby got me a digital picture frame so I can put all my pics of baby girl. Since I would never have enough picture frames for all the pictures I've taken of Samantha, it was a great gift. He had it downloaded with Samantha's pictures when I woke up and I enjoyed looking at all of them especially seeing how much she's grown and changed in just 5 months. I feel so blessed everyday to be her mother and I just hope I can be everything she needs and more. On Mother's Day we went out for lunch with my parents, sisters and Grandma. While we were all sitting at the table I began to think about what Mother's day meant to me before I was a Mother. I always made sure it was the day I did something extra to show my mom how much I appreciated her and all she had done for me. However now that I'm a mother I realized that she probably wasn't thinking about all she had done for us over the years; the laundry, cooking, cleaning, driving, supporting the list of duties are endless, she was thinking about how wonderfully blessed she was to have her children and what joy they (hopefully!) brought to her life. I now understand this as I celebrate my first of many Mother's Days that it wont be a day spent focusing on I'll I've done but all I have.

My mom got me a Beaba Babycook for Mother's Day so that I could start making Samantha fresh vegetables. This thing is amazingly easy to use and it does it all. I love being able to make Samantha's food knowing it's organic and fresh with no added ingredients.
"Did you say we're having Vegetables?"

"I think I like Sweet Potatoes!"

"I could get used to this!"

(she's already started to do the smile while looking away because mommy takes so many pics!)

Remembering the best day of my life.
What a precious little angel

5 Months Old

Sleeping Cutie

Got my Jordans on

Yummy Yummy

Samantha is five months old and she has definitely grown over this past month. She has really begun to enjoy her excersaucer and has learned what buttons make noise. She reaches out for toys or whatever she sees that interests her, of course everything goes straight to the mouth. We've just started to give her solids. She's had rice cereal and oatmeal so far, next week we will start on some vegetables. But so far she loves the cereal and has done really well with the spoon. I say "Take a bite" and she opens her mouth and chomps down. It gets a little messy but she loves it. I'm usually laughing through her meal time because she'll get so excited after she takes a bite that she starts wiggling her hands and legs and of course the cereal gets everywhere.
She is starting to enjoy tummy time much more and is trying so hard to get moving. She has begun to babble and if I'm talking on the phone or to someone she tries to join in. If you've talked to me on the phone recently you've heard her! One of the new things she does is growling/talking like a pirate it's really cute and funny arrghrrrr!
